0:07.0	Today Jesus covers a lot of ground with the Pharisees that may seem familiar.
0:16.7	It's possible that Matthew has collected all Jesus sayings to the Pharisees and put them
0:20.8	all in one convenient filing cabinet labeled chapter 23, but it's also possible
0:25.3	that Jesus is just giving them a big once and for all summary of everything he's been communicating
0:29.5	to them over the past few years. His words to them are full of woe, seven woe's to be exact. They are,
0:35.9	number one, Woe to those who don't enter the kingdom and who by their lies prevent others
0:40.8	from entering to. Number two,
0:43.0	Woe to those who make converts to false religions,
0:45.0	taking them from one lie to another.
0:47.5	Number three,
0:48.5	Woe to the blind guides who value the symbol over the source
0:52.0	and the creation over the Creator.
0:54.0	Number four, woe to those who neglect the weightier things, who tithe religiously while oppressing others.
1:00.0	Number five, woe to those who try to look righteous while they're greedy and selfish.
1:05.0	Number six, woe to those who work hard to seem perfect on the outside when they're full of sin and death.
1:12.0	And number seven, woe to those who repeat the sins of their fathers,
1:15.2	killing the prophets. There are a few things worth pointing out in these woes.
1:19.6	First, I think it's interesting that in verse three Jesus tells the crowds to follow the
1:23.6	commands of the scribes and the Pharisees but not their actions. He doesn't
1:27.9	wholesale condemn their practices, they're teaching the Hebrew scriptures after all,
1:31.7	so as long as they interpret the books of Moses
