0:07.0	Yesterday, the exiles who returned from Babylon started rebuilding the temple in Jerusalem,
0:17.9	and today that comes to the screeching halt.
0:21.0	It starts out subtle.
0:22.0	First, a few of Israel's enemies try to throw a wrench into the plan to rebuild.
0:26.6	The Israelites have been gone for decades, then all of a sudden they show back up to rebuild
0:30.8	the ruins in the land these people have lived in for maybe all of their lives.
0:35.1	This doesn't sit well with their enemies who live there, of course, so their enemies
0:38.5	hatch a plan to put a stop to it.
0:40.9	They're like, oh, you're rebuilding the temple to Yahweh?
0:44.2	What a coincidence!
0:45.2	It just so happens we've been worshipping him too, so you should totally let us help.
0:49.5	But Zaruba Bell and Jesua send them packing.
0:52.3	They say Cyrus has commanded that only the Israelites who returned from exile should
0:56.5	rebuild it.
0:57.8	When the enemies plan A doesn't work, they go over the Israelites' heads.
1:01.5	They start bribing officials and lying and scheming to put a stop to things.
1:05.7	And it seems to work.
1:07.0	The construction project is officially put on hold for something like 15 years.
1:11.6	Maybe some of you feel this way about your road system.
1:14.2	By the way, the extent of this delay kind of flies under the radar and the text because
1:18.2	it's only evident if we pay attention to the different kings mentioned.
