0:00.0	Hey Bible readers, I'm Tara Lee Cobble, and I'm your host for the Bible recap.
0:13.3	Today we finished our 31st book of the Bible.
0:16.6	It was written by the minor prophet Joel.
0:18.9	We don't know anything about him even when he lived, but based on context clues, we can
0:23.5	narrow it down to about a 300-year time frame with the most recent part of that being post-exile.
0:29.5	He makes references to the temple, so we just know it's either before 586 BC or after
0:34.5	516 BC.
0:36.4	Some think this book prophesies the Babylonian invasion, so they place it pre-exile, in
0:40.8	the same time period as the prophets we've already been reading.
0:44.4	Others think this is written post-exile, because he addresses his letter to the elders,
0:48.5	not to a king, and that's who would have been in charge of things after they return
0:51.6	from exile.
0:53.1	But based on where it's placed in this plan, it seems like the people at Blue Letter Bible
0:56.8	who put the plan together lean more toward pre-exile.
1:00.0	So imagine this being written around the same time Ezekiel wrote his book.
1:04.4	Joel contains a lot of mystery.
1:06.2	In addition to not really knowing who he is or when he lived, he also tends to be more
1:10.0	vague than most other prophets.
1:11.9	He doesn't name any of Israel's sins specifically, unlike other prophets, and he barely mentions
1:16.8	which animations he's referring to.
1:19.2	As with most prophecy, this is going to be another zoom out book, where we look at
1:23.6	the big picture more than the details.
