0:00.0	Hey Bible readers, I'm Tara Lee Cobble and I'm your host for the Bible Recap.
0:07.0	In lots of the books of prophecy, we read about prophecies not only for Israel and
0:17.0	Judah, but also for the enemy nations.
0:20.0	Jeremiah is no exception.
0:22.0	He spends the next few chapters addressing the surrounding nations
0:24.8	directly and we read three of those chapters today. In chapter 46 the first country
0:30.0	he holds accountable is Egypt. He's already told us what's coming for them, but today he tells
0:34.6	them what's coming for them. And he does it in two separate oracles. While they're initially in a position of
0:40.5	power, they'll be brought low.
0:42.7	Their towns will be destroyed,
0:44.1	their soldiers will attempt unsuccessfully to flee,
0:47.0	and as their nation is crumbling,
0:49.1	their leader Pharaoh will be rendered powerless.
0:51.8	V verse 17 says he's all bark and no bite.
0:55.6	In verse 19, God tells the Egyptians,
0:58.0	pack your bags, next stop, exile.
1:00.4	A nation is going to invade you from the north
1:02.4	and he'll demolish all the things you expect to save you.
1:04.7	Your forest may be impenetrable but they'll chop it down because nothing can withstand my command.
1:10.3	At the end of the chapter, God circles back around to have a chat with the Israelites who have disobeyed him and fled to Egypt.
1:16.2	And he's much more gentle with them than he was the last time he spoke with them about this.
1:20.6	He starts out by reminding them, don't be afraid. And surely by now you know why they can be fearless, right? Because he is with them.
