Day 176 of Heart Dive 365. I'm your Bible study friend Kenoy. Welcome to the Heart Dive podcast.

0:12.3

Welcome back to Bible study friends. Hope you guys are having a wonderful day. If you are part of the

0:17.0

Heart Dive family, excited to get into God's word. If you could please hit the roll call button,

0:20.3

the thumbs up button. If this is the first time you're stumbling upon one of these videos, we are studying through First Kings and Second Chronicles right now. We follow a chronological reading plan that has been all laid out for us. You can find out more information about this ministry, what we do here at our website, heartdive.org. Or you can take a look in the show notes or the description box, which has a lot of information in there for you. But we're going to go ahead and jump into it. We got quite a few chapters to get through today. So before we do that, let's go ahead and pray and prepare our hearts, which is the most important thing that we can do before we get into God's Word. So Heavenly Father, we just humble

0:55.0

ourselves before you. We just breathe out and exhale. Any anxieties, worries, anything that we have

1:00.9

come here with today, any kind of baggage, doubts, prayers, requests, hopes, dreams, Lord, you know what they are.

1:07.3

And so we just ask right now, Lord, as we just place it at your feet, that you will let us know that you are going to take it and use it for good, use it for our best purpose. We're going to trust you in that, Lord. We're going to leave it there and walk away a little bit freer today, a little bit lighter. We're going to breathe in your peace and your contentment. So we thank you for this time, Lord, because it is in your word

1:28.5

where we're going to be able to be strengthened. Our faith is going to grow stronger. We're going to hear your voice. You're going to give us instruction. So we're excited today for what you have for us. So we just ask Holy Spirit that you will have your way. Forgive us for our sins. Please let us know if we are not aware, if we are falling short in any area, if we are stepping over the line, if we're just plain hurting you. We want to know what that is, God, because we want to change. We want to be the best person that we can be, the person you created us to be. And so I just pray that we will live that out with each step that we take in this life. Help us to also forgive others, Lord, because we know that whenever we are holding on to grudges or bitterness or anger, that is holding us prisoner as well. So we don't want that. You don't want that. And so we want to be able to just walk freely today. God, you have heard every single plea, even the unspoken ones that are coming

2:18.4

from the hearts of your people. And so I just pray that you will let them know that your ear is tuned into them. And God, I pray that their ears will now be in tune with you to be able to hear the answer that you desire to speak to them. We love you so much. Thank you for this time. Thank you for this family, Lord. I'm so, so grateful for this entire ministry, every person, Lord, who has a hand

2:18.3

in it. I pray that you will bless them abundantly in Jesus' name. Amen. So I was notified that I have been saying the names of Jeroboam and Rehoboam wrong. I was saying Jeroboam and Rehoboam. I put the emphasis on the wrong syllable. So thank you very much

2:52.5

for those of you who brought that to my attention. And I know it wasn't criticism. It was just

2:57.0

your concern that if somebody hears about these people or hears these stories in a sermon,

3:02.0

it's not going to connect because they have heard it in their brain in another way. So I am not a

3:07.0

Hebrew expert and I guarantee

3:08.3

you I will say plenty of things wrong here. I do my best. So whenever you are able to correct me, I will definitely look into that and make sure that I am doing the right thing as best as possible. But if you just say you're saying it wrong and don't give me any kind of instruction. I don't know how good I'm going to be.

3:24.3

Anyway, let's start off chapter 15 of first kings. Now in the 18th year of King Giroboem, who is the

3:30.6

king of the north, remember he was the one who was prophesied that he would rise up to become king.

3:36.6

He used to be the head of the forced labor, the son of Nibat.

3:43.4

Abidjam began to reign over Judah.

3:51.1

So Abidium, his name in Hebrew literally translates to Father and Sea, or My Father is Yam, which was a sea god of the Canaanite deities.

3:53.9

However, we're going to take the alternate version of that, which is Abijah. That is the way

3:59.0

that the chronicler wrote his name in the several chapters that we will read today, which means
