0:16.2	Welcome to First Chronicles.
0:18.2	We'll be popping in and out of this book over the next month.
0:20.9	Then it will drop in and out of second Chronicles for the three months after that.
0:24.9	These two books used to be one book, but they were divided because of scroll length.
0:29.4	And our chronological timeline were currently at the time of David, which is roughly 1000
0:33.6	years BC.
0:35.0	And these two books were written at roughly 500 BC to Chronicle Israel's history, like
0:39.7	the Bible recap but before podcast and much more condensed and on a scroll.
0:44.4	So every time we drop into this book, we'll be getting a little bonus recap about something
0:48.1	we just read.
0:49.5	The purpose of Chronicles is to remind Israel where they came from, which should also
0:53.1	serve to give them hope for the future.
0:55.5	In a few days, I'll tell you why it was so important for them to have this book and
0:59.1	these genealogy specifically.
1:01.8	The book starts us way back at the beginning.
1:03.8	In fact, the first word of First Chronicles 1-1 is Adam.
1:07.8	This is going to be such a good refresher for us, and I believe it will really help us
1:11.3	to commit more of this to memory as well as stir up a few things in our hearts.
