0:07.0	Today we finished our ninth book of the Bible and we're rapidly closing in on
0:17.4	100 days in the word so I think you should do something to celebrate if you know

0:23.2	recap, maybe you should get together and have a little party or something. If kids
0:26.8	can have a party for hitting 100 days in school, you can do it for hitting 100

0:38.6	invited to the party too. Bring ice cream. Okay, let's drop in on Ruth's story. It takes place during the time of the
0:45.8	judges when all kinds of wickedness is filling the land of Israel. The book opens with a married
0:50.4	couple, Illimelimelek and Naomi, leaving their hometown, Bethlehem of Judah, to escape a famine.
0:56.5	They settle in Moab across the Jordan River, which is pagan territory.
1:00.4	We'll include a link to a map in today's show note so you can see where this is.
1:04.0	After Alemolek and Naomi and their two sons get to Moab, the sons do the very thing Moses warned them against.
1:10.0	They marry women who worship other gods.
1:13.0	Eventually, Alimalek and his sons all die,
1:15.0	leaving Naomi and her Moabite daughters-in-law behind defend for themselves.
1:19.0	Naomi is in dire straits because as a widow with no offspring there's no way for her to be provided for
1:25.4	and especially not in a foreign land that has no rules for providing for widows like Israel does.
1:31.4	Fortunately she gets word that Bethlehem isn't in a famine anymore,
1:35.0	and she packs her bags.
1:36.5	She tells her pagan daughters in law
