0:24.6	Okay, we're back to Genesis now.
0:27.8	When we were last here, before we dropped in on Job,
0:30.8	a man named Abram had just been born through the bloodline of Adam and Noah,
0:34.8	the Anoa's son, Shim.
0:37.0	According to the timeline Genesis marks out, Abram was born almost 2,000 years after Adam,
0:42.1	but only about 300 years after the flood.
0:44.8	And just like Adam and Noah before him, God continues his unique relationship with this family
0:50.2	through Abram.
0:51.8	In 12-3, God tells Abram that he's going to bless him so that he may be a blessing.
0:57.3	That blessing doesn't terminate on Abram. It's ultimately about way more than him.
1:01.6	It's about how the Messiah will be born through his bloodline someday, through this
1:05.5	family, which is a blessing to all the families of the earth. But this is way
1:10.7	over Abram's head at this point. Initially, God just promises to bless him with land and possessions,
1:15.7	but there's one problem.
1:17.1	The land God promises him is currently inhabited by the Canaanites.
1:20.8	We talked about them on day three. They were the group of people that were generally
1:24.2	regarded as enemies of God. There was a famine in the land at the time so Abram and his wife
1:29.2	Sarai moved to a different place, Egypt, and Abram's nephew Lott goes with them, as well as all
