Hello all the cinephiles fans, this is the outlaw John Roca joined as always by my co-host Steve Morris.

0:14.0

Hello, how are you?

0:15.0

Good man, good and a little bit sad and we are also joined by our very special guest who was our guest when we originally recorded this episode for Star Trek 6.

0:25.0

That is noted film historian, co-host of Enterprise Incidence.

0:30.0

One of the greats in the Shmoown, one of the legends of the Shmoown, but also someone that both of us are proud to call a friend Steve Morris and that is the great Scott Mance.

0:39.0

Scott, welcome back for this special intro, I guess, not fun, special intro for Star Trek 6.

0:45.0

Well, thanks so much gentlemen, you guys have been great friends for so long now at working with both of you in various capacities.

0:53.0

And you know, David Warner is a legend, an absolute legend and his association with Nicholas Meyer who directed him in Star Trek 6 goes back much, much further than that.

1:07.0

The first time I saw David Warner in a film was time after time directed by Nicholas Meyer.

1:14.0

He's Jack the Ripper and you know, Malcolm McDowell as Sherlock Holmes is on his tail in modern times.

1:21.0

It was a really fun movie, it came out 79 and I was like just at the right age for that.

1:27.0

And then I just seen Warner in so many movies over the years, even Star Trek 5, he was in a lot of people don't remember that.

1:35.0

He was, but also, I mean, just, you know, I just rewatched about two months ago, one of my favorite movies, which I'm not ashamed to say this Titanic.

1:45.0

Love Titanic, I am a crazy Titanic fan and you know, he was, he was really, really great sort of chewing scenery as the foil for Leonardo DiCaprio's Jack.

1:56.0

But he was Gorkhan in Star Trek 6 and his, I guess his parting words in Star Trek 6 kind of take on a more of a resonance.

2:09.0

Don't let it end this way, Captain.

2:12.0

Yeah, and that's what we're doing this intro Steve. It's because of the the passing of David Warner who we lost on the same day that we lost Paul Sorvino.

2:21.0

So pretty sad day and we seem to be losing a lot of the greats recently and certainly David Warner only 81 years old, which is not, you know, people lived till 90 or 100 now.

2:31.0

So it's really sad to see him go, but certainly he was part of, as Scott mentioned, a part of so many different types of films and TV shows.

2:41.0

What do you think when you think about David Warner, either in Star Trek 6 or as an actor?

2:46.0

I think of his power, I guess is the biggest word is there's such a dignity about him and a power and a veritas about him, the guy.

2:59.0

And particularly it's so funny thinking about the two big Star Trek roles.
