He's back on what were, would you call them the killing streets of New York in 1970s there for the deuce?

As close as New York, God.

My guess, of course, is David Simon.

The killing streets of New York now is such a sad phrase considering.

It would be like trademarked. Well, I mean, there's just, you know, the killing streets now, the only thing you can get

you is a two-star restaurant.

Or the price of coffee on the streets of Manhattan now.

That's right.

My guess, of course, is the creator of the book Homicide.

The writer, the author of the book Homicide, which came the series, Homicide Life

on the Streets. He created The Wire and Tramay for HBO's new HBO series is The Deuce David Simon.

You know, one of the things that always strikes me about your work, and I think we talked about this the last time I saw you, which we were in Baltimore, Mew and Barry Levinson and John Waters.

That was a night.

That was a great night.

But your work is so much about ego.

Huh.

Do you see my point?

I'm thinking about it.

I feel like maybe the one place where that's true is that I don't feel like the characters

ever do things that are not in their interest.
