Summary

Jimmy Graham and David Rutherford went through Hell Week together in Class 208. Their paths split into different SEAL teams, different deployments, different wars — and converged again through the CIA's Global Response Staff. Today, Jimmy breaks down what actually happened inside Blackwater before the Fallujah ambush, what the Benghazi movie got wrong, why he punched a teammate on a memorial motorcycle ride, and how losing his closest brother led him to build Able Shepherd — one of the most respected tactical protection training programs in the country.

Jimmy Graham is a veteran U.S. Navy SEAL (15+ years, Chief Petty Officer), former CIA GRS protective officer, and founder/CEO of Able Shepherd Emergency Readiness Training in Denver, Colorado. He is also the author of "The Return of Man" and founder of Abel Nation, a 501(c)(3) dedicated to protecting churches, schools, and communities.

Today I am beyond stoke to welcome former Navy SEAL, CIA contractor, and the CEO of two of the most amazing organizations I've ever seen in my life, Abel Shepard and his 501C3, Abel Nation, my old good dear friend, Jimmy Graham. Welcome to the show, Jimmy, man. How you doing, buddy?

0:36.1

1:01.0

Just bright-eyed and bushy-tailed-bush-a-tail going through Hell Week together.

1:07.2

And, man, it's just like, I just, the thing that means the most to me is that i see the

1:14.4

the men that i had the most respect for continuing on you know continuing and and you know

1:22.5

you call it what you call it to continue service and so yeah and then just talk about, let's just start with that concept about, you know, that service

1:33.7

from back then to this wanting to continue your service now.

1:39.5

Yeah.

1:40.2

So, man, we had talked to something we first popped on about these leaders, about

1:47.0

our community, our brotherhood, that LLTB, that long-lived the brotherhood, even talking to

1:52.0

you and, you know, thinking about buds, I've heard people like in my high school, like,

1:56.0

hey, the senior year we were special and something happened, I'm like, I didn't feel it. Like, whatever, dude, if you say so. But, but, but it buds, man. I feel like I, I was, I was in that spot. It wasn't necessarily jail or military, but not far from it, right? It was like, I had to clean up messes to even enlist. Like, they're like, we didn't want you till you clean this up, right? Some just bad decisions and having all that energy not sure where to put it, it was good. Like me being that chip on my shoulder was good. I just didn't know how to wield that sword. That stubbornness was good. I didn't know how to wield that sword. I needed to grow into it. So I really need, I got in some trouble and I really needed to grow up right now. So I went

2:35.0

to all of them, Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine, all of that, so what do you got? And I needed something hard. And when I heard about the SEAL teams, you know, the ocean, being a dude from Kansas City, Missouri, if you go left or right, you can't get further from the ocean. You're in the heart of it. It was something alluring

2:51.2

about the ocean. Then I show up and I see all these long lost brothers. I came in on a stack of waivers, but when I got there, there's all these dudes that also came in on a stack of waivers that also had all this fire in the gut, but they didn't know what to do with it, right? And then they just like, we got exactly, you know, we got something for you to do.
