This is post-mortem.

On this trip, we're going to take a bit of a diversion off the horror highway.

What's great about the nature of podcasting is that we can broaden our scope now and

then and engage in conversations with people in the arts who we just find

interesting, that our format can be flexible and

inclusive. Our guest today is a giant in the field of comedy. We've

discussed before how comedy and horror share many traits, even though comedy horror itself, can be hit and miss.

Horror and comedy both go for a physical response, the laugh and the jump or scream, or white knuckling the arms of your seat.

They are genre's best shared.

Fear and laughter are contagious.

What's scary at home alone on your television is a hell of a lot scarier in a crowd.

And how often do you laugh aloud when you're watching something funny at home alone?

Not nearly as much as in a full cinema.

Reactions to fear and laughter are felt as deeply as they are experienced.

They are after an active response rather than a passive one.

Feel that tension growing in your gut when the horror is really working and feel that tension

completely released when you give way to the laughter evoked by a comedy that is running

on all cylinders. Our guest Dave Thomas does it all. Although he's probably best known from his years as one of the founding stars and writers of SC TV, the Canadian Sketch comedy show that exploded around the world.
