Welcome to the treatment. I'm Elvis Mitchell. Well, it's that time of year. There's a polar vortex in most of the United States,

We're going to talk about the Oscars this year. First of all, it's always so good to have you.

And what it's always so fun about talking to you about this is that you both know movies and have a sense a historical sense of the Oscars and generally people are one or the other and they are not both. I am an

Oscar nerd and I fully admit it and I watch every movie with one eye that's my own and one eye that

is this fake Oscar voter that I have in my head and I imagine what that person would think of each movie.

So I really do kind of formulate two opinions of the movies.

And I try not to let my personal opinion cloud what I think a movie's Oscar chances are.

Pretty okay at it.

And I think that's helped by the fact that I'm not technically a film critic.

You know, I'm more of a commentator and an interviewer.

And if I were, I think it would be harder to prognosticate who might win the Academy Awards.

I really do feel like I'm a little bit removed from it in the best possible way.

criticism myself, you get wedded to the idea what part of the expression the good movies are.
