Bill Belichick did not suffer fools.

He does not suffer fools.

Problem is he sometimes has a very wide definition of what fools must be.

So sometimes he's snarky, he's belligerent.

He has had those moments.

Is that why some people didn't vote for him for the Hall of Fame? I would hope not.

We know that you wrote a little bit about this at the Detroit Free Press this morning. Can you just give us your reaction as a member of the selection committee on the news that Bill Belichick will not be a first ballot hallfamer? Yeah, I was shocked. You know, I'll, I'll standing outside the sort of the scout gate, right? The gate where they entered yesterday when news broke and got a couple text messages on my phone. And one player from the, or one person from the Lions contingent that was down here walked out, not long after. And I said, man, do you see that Bill Belichick news? And he said, man, these guys are crazy.

But I know I voted for him.

Like, don't put me in that group. You know what I mean? It was, uh, so I, I thought Bill should have got in. Nothing that I heard, you know, in the discussion led me to believe that he wouldn't. And yeah, I was as shocked as everyone to see that news yesterday. Looking at the column this morning, as a Hall of Fame voter, my colleagues got it wrong on Bill Belichick. Why do you think that some of your colleagues

did not vote for him? Yeah, I mean, look, I think there's probably a couple things that came into

play. I got to be a little bit careful, right? We're not allowed to sort of discuss the, or talk about what, you know, we talked about in the room and who said what. But, you know, I, again, nothing that happened in that room led me to believe there was this staunch opposition to Bill Belichick. You know, the discussion was what you would think it would be. It was, there was definitely talk about

the Flake Gate and, you know, SpyGate, SpyGate more important to his candidacy than the

flag gate and, you know, kind of what that meant. But, you know, there was also, you know,

a heavy consideration of the Super Bowls he's won, what he's, you know, accomplished as a coach,

the wins he's had. I mean, I think the other negative, what he's, you know, accomplished as a coach, the wins he's had.
