Summary

I thought I was the exception to the dating advice everyone gives when you’re single. I wasn’t. In this episode, I’m breaking down the advice I ignored and what it cost me, from chasing potential to confusing mixed signals for chemistry. We’ll talk about desperation, fixing people, and the stories we tell ourselves to avoid walking away. If something feels off in your relationship, this might help you name it.

Hey guys, it's Lana and welcome back for another episode of seeing other people.

0:07.7

It is time for a solo episode and one that I have been wanting to do for months now.

0:14.3

And I'm really excited.

0:16.6

I thought it would be really important to do an episode about all of the dating advice that

0:22.8

people gave me when I was single that I ignored.

0:26.2

And not only did I ignore it, but I really wish I had taken it, not because those people

0:34.6

were right and that advice would have led me where I needed to be faster,

0:39.5

but because it just would have saved me pain and agony and frustration.

0:45.6

That said, and this is kind of the caveat with everything, is I'm so happy with how my life has unfolded. And I can't say that I regret the mistakes I made

1:00.6

because they all led me to the life I'm living now with the person that I chose to marry

1:06.4

and the family that we're building and the life that we're building for ourselves. But I definitely

1:13.9

tortured myself a little bit more than I needed to by ignoring this advice. So I'm really excited to

1:19.4

get into this. I think this will be a really helpful episode for so many of you. This is one of the

1:23.7

episodes that like, I just wish I had this when I was single and when I was really

1:27.7

going through it. And even if you're not single, I think a lot of this is also just advice

1:33.5

that can relate to life and friendships and relationships with people in our family and at work.

1:39.8

And just it can really help us live a better life for us.

1:47.2

And if we're not trying to do that, then what are we doing?

1:50.2

You know, if we're not trying to better ourselves and have better relationships

1:54.1

across the board and better experiences, what's the point?

1:57.8

So very excited to get into it.

1:59.7

Before we do, I do need to tell you guys, I have had a day.
