| 0:07.0 | How successful entrepreneurs join John Lee Dumas and today's entrepreneur on Fire. |
| 1:07.0 | Well, hello Fire Nation. I am going to tell you a little bit about me this morning, but as you're listening, I want you to think about yourself and where you hear yourself in my story. |
| 1:38.0 | So I graduated from college with an advanced degree in anthropology. And if you're not familiar with the science of anthropology, it's the study of humans throughout space and time. |
| 1:50.0 | It includes studying things like bones, which you might have seen on shows like CSI. It includes the study of cultures and it includes the study of cultural artifacts. So that's what archaeologists do. |
| 2:04.0 | And if you've ever met me or checked out my website, you can tell pretty quickly that I actually don't care for digging around in the dirt. |
| 2:12.0 | So I needed to find a way to take these skills I had of being able to look through a collection of items like what you'd find when an archaeologist digs up a bunch of stuff out in the desert and make it girly and fun for me. |
| 2:27.0 | So I created my purse process where I treat your handbag just like a collection that you would find out on an archaeological dig. And I can extrapolate information not just about you, but about your business by looking through your handbag or wallet. |
| 2:42.0 | Wow, Danielle, I love that skill. I love that mindset of how you really loved and had a passion for anthropology and all of that. |
| 2:51.0 | You know, you wanted to mix it up a little bit. You wanted to be a trend set and we talked a little bit about that in the pre interview chat and I can't wait to dive more into that as we really analyze your journey as an entrepreneur because it's been a fascinating one. |
| 3:03.0 | But Danielle, we always start entrepreneur on fire off with a success quote because we really want to get that motivational ball rolling here for fire nation. So take it away. |
| 3:14.0 | Well, my success quote is actually something that I've said and it is desire is your soul speaking to you. So if there is something that you want to be do or have, there is a part of you that must have that and you have to go after it. |
| 3:30.0 | And I know a lot of us entrepreneurs feel like there's something that we just have to go after that it's our soul speaking to us that it's our inner voice calling us to do something. |
| 3:40.0 | And what happens is there are people around us who will try to tell us that there's something else that makes more sense. There were a lot of people in my life who told me, well, it would make a lot more sense for you to just go along with the program and go dig out in the desert. |
| 3:55.0 | But I knew that I needed to do something with my skills that was a lot more feminine and a lot more fun. And so I listened to that desire and I created an awesome business out of it. |
| 4:07.0 | Danielle, tell us one of those stories of one of those times that somebody told you that you should just go on the desert and start digging. What was that experience like like really take us there in that moment in time? |
| 4:19.0 | Yeah, well, when somebody tells you that you need to be doing something other than what it is that your soul wants to do, I can tell you it feels crummy. |
| 4:30.0 | And so when I graduated from college and was looking to either have a job in the field of anthropology or do something else, what I decided was I couldn't accept the fact yet that I was going to have to go dig out into the desert. |
| 4:45.0 | And so for many years, I actually opted out of using my skills and did something completely different because I felt like those people were right. If I wasn't willing to get out and dig in the dirt and do what everybody else was doing, then I just wasn't going to be able to use those skills that I paid tens of thousands of dollars to acquire. |
| 5:06.0 | Who are those people, Danielle? Give us a real world example. |
| 5:09.0 | Oh, my goodness. So I'm going to tattle tail here on my husband. |
| 5:13.0 | Yes, he absolutely wants me to be happy in life, but he is a realist and he looked around and thought, you know, this is really what you have to do if you're going to use these skills. |
