Summary

Video surveillance captures the final images of 80-year-old Edna Suttles alive in a hotel parking lot in one of the most beautiful places in the United States, a tiny South Carolina town called Travelers Rest. Nearly a month after her disappearance, Edna's body is found buried across state lines in a wooded area of North Carolina. Investigators work tirelessly to piece together the events that lead to her death, and in the process, realize they’re dealing with a serial killer.

0:30.8	South Carolina. It's that it's that welcome map that brings you in to Appalachia.
0:37.2	And there's a tiny town there called Traveler's Rest. It's a beautiful place. I've been there
0:44.1	many times throughout my life and it's it's kind of like entering into this beautiful forested area
0:52.1	prime evil where you begin to see the land rise before you. It's beautiful streams mountains.
1:02.5	But for Edna Suttles it turned out to be one of the most horrible locations
1:12.4	that she could have ever been. Today we're going to talk about the homicide, the murder of Edna Suttles.

1:38.0	Jackie I know that you're from that area of the country up in Tennessee and it is certainly
1:43.4	beautiful and I have to think that Edna probably thought it was rather gorgeous too. What do you think?
1:49.8	I do agree Joe and in fact most of us who live in the mountains and are from that part of the area
1:55.4	do consider it to be God's country. But unfortunately for Edna Suttles someone else decided to make
2:01.9	it no man's land. Edna Suttles and her 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee disappeared from her home
2:09.9	in Traveler's Rest as you said around August 27th 2021. Her car was found
2:19.6	oh about a week later September 3rd also 2021 parked in a best western parking lot.
2:27.4	And as investigators started looking and investigating this case they found surveillance
2:34.3	camera footage from the hotel parking lot. That helped them start a timeline of what happened
2:42.4	to Edna Suttles. This may have been the last footage of her. Let me tell you a little something
2:48.9	about Edna that's absolutely fascinating. I found out about her life that I don't know if too
2:54.8	many people know this. Edna is actually the first woman in the history of the state of South Carolina
