Summary

Danica Childs was a typical 17-year-old girl growing up in Federal Way, Washington. But when she met a community college student on the bus, her life went down a path no one in her family expected. What started as normal teenage rebellion, turned into staying out all night and problems in school. But when Danica failed to show up to go Christmas shopping with her sisters in 2007, her mother knew something was wrong. What she found was a mother’s worst nightmare: Danica Childs very well could have fallen victim to a sex-trafficking ring. What has followed is a family’s 13-year quest to bring their loved one home. You can see all of our sources, along with photos and videos related to this case on our blog.Sources: 'I Had No Clue,' Says Mom Whose Teen Vanished After Leading A Double Life Yelp: Sunset Motel Charley Project: Danica Dianne Childs Interview with Jennifer Tucker: 'My Feet Were Bloody' Interview with Jennifer Tucker: 'You're Just Stuck' Unshackled: A prostitute's journey to freedom Facebook: Help Find Danica Childs Namus: Missing Persons Case 5944 Human Trafficking: Federal Way Mom's Worst Nightmare Volunteers tackle human trafficking in Federal Way. Her mother couldn't get in touch with her, but, you know, initially just thought that

0:47.9

maybe Danica changed her mind.

0:49.9

But when no one had heard from her by the next day, her mother knew something was really

0:54.7

wrong. As she dug into her daughter's disappearance, she discovered that Danica had been

0:59.9

careening down a dark path for months, one that her horrified mother knew nothing about, and likely

1:06.4

led to her daughter's disappearance. When a person goes missing, there's a special kind of pain in the not knowing.
