Today our guest is Dana Kennedy.

She's an award-winning reporter who spent two decades with The New York Times and was

one of the lead reporters on its 2001 series on Race in America, which won a Pulitzer

Prize.

Dana also published a best-selling memoir following the tragic death of her fiance in combat

in Iraq in 2006.

The book is a letter to their son and it's about to become a movie.

He's since gone on to two big firsts becoming the first person of color, the youngest ever,

and first female administrator of the Pulitzer Prize.

And last year she became the first black person to head up a major US publishing imprint

as publisher and senior vice president at Simon & Schuster.
