Thank you for having me on the show.

Yeah. So, you know, I was introduced to you by way of our mutual friend, Jonathan Fields,

who told me that, you know, you teach a science of happiness course at NYU. And I am always intrigued by the work that happiness researchers do because of the fact

that it's based in science as opposed to a lot of made-up craziness that often comes from

the self-help world. But I want to start by asking, what did your parents do for a living?

And how did that end up impacting the choices that you've made with your life and your career?

Oh my. Do we only have an hour on this show?

It's a rich question, man.

So my parents are both musicians.

They're both professional musicians.

My father was a flute player in the Pittsburgh Symphony for about 45 years.

And my mother was an opera singer.

And so when I was growing up, I would see them in two different capacities, really.

You know, I knew that they were performing at a very high level, even from a young age.
