The first time I heard it as a possibility, my agent said,

you know, there's a real chance they'll cancel the show.

And it felt like that moment in a dubstep song where it's like, boom, cancel, cancel, cancel.

When Fox dropped Brooklyn 9-9 after five seasons, showrunner Dan Gore could only pray that his show wasn't truly done for.

Within a day, his prayers were answered when NBC brought the sitcom back to life again.

Gore takes us through one of the most dramatic changes of fortune from this year's upfront season.

Gore talked to my colleague, Leslie Goldberg, about being in the bathroom when Fox flushed his

show and initially hoping that Hulu might be its savior.

He also tells us what NBC will allow on its air that Fox wouldn't.

but she tweeted this thing about Valerie Jarrett, you know, she might have been the baby of

Planet of the Apes and the Muslim Brotherhood. And she had said something before about another

African American in the Obama administration, also using an ape analogy, which is Jim Crow racist.

And ABC instantly fired her. I think that one of our colleagues, Pete

Keeley, made a very strong argument like, why does ABC get credit for firing her? The question is,
