Welcome back to the Spartan Combat Series folks. This is your host Ryan Warner. My guest today is the great Dan Gable, the Michael Jordan of Wrestling, the Bill Bellachac of wrestling coaching, he's done it all.

As a college wrestler, he was undefeated before losing his last collegiate match to a man by the name of

Larry Owings, who we talk about today.

After that he rebounded in one the 1971 world championships

as well as the 1972 Olympics without being scored on.

It's an incredible feat, one that they still talk about today.

And then after his competitive days, he became one of the most successful college coaches of

old time. He coached at the University of Iowa for 21 years and during

those 21 years the Hawks won 21 straight Big Ten titles and 15 national

titles. The stats are absolutely ludicrous and I can't wait just to get into the interview and have you hear from this legend.

It was his first loss in seven years because he had gone

undefeated all through high school and then all through college except for his
