Hello, welcome to the final all-out politics podcast of 2017.

So today we're going to be looking back at another

eventful year of politics and looking forward to what we think could happen in 2018. But before that,

it is the winter solstice, the shortest day of the year. And we have a cabinet resignation, or

was it a firing at the First Secretary of State?

And Ki-May ally, Damien Green, is no longer First Secretary of State and de facto Prime Minister.

Well, with me to talk about that are Harry Carr of Sky Data and also our political correspondent, Tamara Cohen.

So was he pushed?

It looks like he was.

I mean, actually, the tone of the letter is quite interesting,

different from when Michael Fallon, the Defence Secretary,

Anne-Pretti-Petel, resigned because it was made clear then that they were going,

whereas Theresa May's letter

said, I have asked you to resign.

And Damien Green's letter makes clear that he wasn't that keen to go.

So I think it shows that the Prime Minister recognised that this was untenable, that
