spiritually mature? Because elders, according to these three texts, are to set an example.

Elders should be able to say to the flock of God, imitate me as I imitate Christ.

Elders should be able to say to the flock of God, both in their preaching and in their lives, both in their

doctrine and in their life. They should be able to say to the flock of God, you would do well to

imitate me as I imitate Christ. You would do well to follow me as I follow Christ. I'm not only trying

Part of the purpose of an elder being spiritually mature is because an elder is called by God

to be an example.

An elder should be a step or two, if not 10, but at least a step or two ahead of at least

the majority of the congregation.

Because it is a great benefit to the people of God.
