Good morning. In the news this morning, a boy was among five people injured in a Southwest

Philadelphia fire. Also, her was an elderly man who tried to save the child. The fire started

at 12.45 a.m. Thursday in the

2,400 block of Ardell Street. Fire crews arrived on the scene to find heavy smoke on the second

floor of the two-story row house. There were reports of occupants on the roof and hanging from the

second floor windows. Firefighters soon rescued the elderly man from the porch roof and the

eight-year-old boy from inside the building.

The child was rushed to chop with smoke inhalation. He's in serious condition.

Two adults, a male and a female will rush to Penn Presbyterian Hospital with smoke inhalation.

They are in stable condition. The fire was placed under control at 120 a.m.

And there was no immediate word on the cause of that fire. Faculty and students are

mourning the loss of a Camden County teacher who was killed in a car accident on Tuesday night.

46-year-old Michelle Barnett was a teacher at Chews Elementary in Gloucester Township. Police say her

vehicle was involved in a crash on Ariel and Douglas Roads about 6.20 p.m. Tuesday. Barnett was driving one of the two vehicles

involved. The other driver and a passenger in Barnett's car survived. All three were taken to the

hospital, but Barnett died at the hospital. An investigation into the cause of the crash continues.

Gloucester Township Mayor, David Mayor, released a statement saying Barnett's passion to teach

was only matched by her passion for her students.

She taught at Choose School for 20 years.
