| 0:08.1 | And now, Preston and Steve's news updates with Kathy Romano. |
| 0:12.7 | And as I said, it's a Tuesday, November 13th. |
| 0:15.4 | Good morning, Kathy. |
| 0:16.4 | Good morning in the news this morning. |
| 0:18.6 | A Philadelphia firefighter was injured after falling off of the roof of a home while battling a fire. It happened at 3 a.m. Tuesday at the two-story row home on the 5600 block of Spruce Street in West Philadelphia. Crews arrived to heavy smoke in the home. Just around 3.15, a firefighter fell 20 feet off of the roof. He suffered a head injury. The firefighter was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. They're now listing him in stable condition. Fortunately, he's going to be okay. They said he's pretty banged up, but should be okay. Officials have not said if there was anyone at home at the time of the fire. PGW and L and I were on the scene early this morning along with police. Firefighters wrapped up at the scene this morning. The cause is still under investigation. Imagine if you're a firefighter and you're responding to a fire in a building and you have to go up onto the roof. The fear is always you're going to fall through or something's got weak and it's happened countless times. I don't know how the hell they do it. This guy slipped and fell off. Yeah, yeah. |
| 1:11.1 | So that's a full all the way down drop. Yeah, terrible. The ride sharing services has some |
| 1:17.5 | parents using Uber and Lyft to taxi their children around. However, it's against the policy |
| 1:22.2 | of both companies and can prove to be unsafe. One local mother says that an Uber driver |
| 1:27.2 | allegedly abducted her daughter |
| 1:28.7 | and even after he was charged, she continued to drive for the company for months. This woman says |
| 1:33.7 | that it happened around 930 in the evening. It was a chilly night in March when an Uber driver |
| 1:38.0 | picked up her 15-year-old daughter. The teen had just wrapped up a hair appointment but said that |
| 1:41.9 | the Uber ride quickly turned uncomfortable. I received multiple comments saying I was pretty, she said. |
| 1:47.0 | The girl texted her mom as she was told to do so when she ordered the ride home. |
| 1:52.0 | Her text said, I'm in an Uber, I feel uncomfortable. |
| 1:54.0 | So we talked about this on the air and we were kind of shocked to hear that a lot of parents were doing this |
| 1:59.0 | and they said that they were having |
| 2:01.1 | success with it. Is there any provision that allows a parent to send their kid on an, you |
| 2:08.2 | know, with an Uber driver to get them to a destination using Uber or a Lyft? |
| 2:12.9 | So both Uber and Lyft have a policy where minors are not allowed to use their services |
| 2:16.5 | without a parent. Okay. Some busy parents are using the ride-sharing services to transport their kids to and from an event. All right. But this, I mean, this one incident, and I'm sure there's been a, you know, there's probably been more than one. But we had a whole bunch of calls come in about people who were doing exactly that. Yeah. But I mean, this girl was like trying to get out of the car. She was kicking and screaming. And, you know, fortunately, her mother knew where she was. And, you know, the girl did make it out okay. But, I mean, there were charges and the person continued to drive. But both Uber and Lyft say that to put your minor into a ride share without a parent is against their policy. And that's a bad idea all the way around. |
