In the news this morning, as expected, the day day after election day and the winner of the

presidential election is still not known president trump and former vice president biden uh the winds hinge

on key battleground states 270 electoral votes are needed to win the election voters in

donald trump carried florida the nation's most prize battleground state and he and democratic joe turned out for the 2020 election in record numbers. President Donald Trump carried Florida,

the nation's most prize battleground state, and he and Democratic Joe Biden, were increasingly

focused early Wednesday on the three northern industrial states, Wisconsin, Michigan, and

Pennsylvania. That could prove crucial in determining who wins the White House. In a late-night

address from the White House, President Trump baselessly said he won re-election, even though the race was too close to call and called for

outstanding ballots not to be counted. By early Wednesday, neither candidate had the 270 electoral

college votes needed to win. Trump made premature claims of the victories in several key states

and said that he would take the election to the Supreme Court to stop the counting. It was unclear exactly what legal action he might try to pursue.

Vote tabulations routinely continue beyond election day and states largely set the rules

for when the count has to end in presidential elections.

A key point is the date in December when presidential electors met that's set by federal law.
