Today is Monday, November 4th. Good morning, Kathy.

Good morning in the news this morning. A would-be robber is dead after police say he was shot by a victim.

He was trying to rob on Sunday night. That happened about 8.30 at 60th in Gerard in West Philadelphia. Police say the suspect roughly 25 to 30 years old was attempting to rob a man at gunpoint when he was sitting on his front steps. According to investigators, the resident had a license to carry and he opened fire. Police said the victim fired the shots and self-defense.

The suspect then ran to the 1,200 block of North 60th Street where he collapsed onto a porch.

He was rushed to the hospital where he later died. No other injuries were reported.

Police said it's unclear if the two men knew each other.

Eight suspects have been reportedly arrested in Vietnam in connection with the case in the

United Kingdom

in which 39 people believed to be Vietnamese nationals were found dead in a tractor trailer near London.

Right.

Police in Vietnam detained the individuals on Sunday on charges of organizing people smuggling overseas,

according to the country's state-run newspaper.

Thousands of people in Vietnam are smuggled to Europe every year on a route filled with

violence and hardship. Vietnamese smugglers call it the CO2 route, a poorly ventilated oxygen deficit

trip across the English Channel in shipping containers or trailers piled high with pallets of

merchandise, the last leg of the dangerous 6,000 mile trek. They said they actually wrap themselves

because they're in like refrigerated units so that

they're not detected.

And that's pretty much how all of them died.

Unbelievable.
