Good morning in the news this morning.

Philadelphia police report that shots were fired at officers during a foot chase in the city's Germantown section early Thursday. It happened at 4.15 in the morning near the

intersection of Germantown Avenue and West Rittenhouse Street. Officials said that they were

in pursuit of a man who shot and killed a woman in a nearby home. Investigators said police

were chasing the man from the area of Sheltonham Avenue and Green Street when he opened fire.

According to the officials, the suspect was shot by police officers. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A man was struck by a hit and run driver launching him about 75 feet from where he was pronounced dead in the street.

Wednesday night, police said it happened at about 10.20 p.m. on the 400 block of West Hunting Park Avenue. Police said officers found a 52-year-old man from New York lying in the middle of the street with severe head trauma. Witnesses said that the man was walking to a food truck, which is common in that area. They said that when he was struck by, that's when he was struck by a dark colored Jeep

Grand Cherokee. Police said what happened next is unusual. The driver stopped before speeding

away, only to circle back and return to the scene, then speed away again. The victim was hit so

hard that he was forced out of his sneakers, said Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small. His

body was launched and he was pronounced dead at the scene. 75 feet. 75 feet out of the sneakers and the guy stopped. Got away? Came back, I guess. Did I hit somebody? Yeah, I did. See you later. Yeah. I mean, it's kind of what it sounds like. That's, wow. Investigators found some broken car parts at the scene that they say could be from the striking vehicle.

Police said that they have two witnesses and there are several surveillance cameras in the area

that may help with the investigation.

There's a really weird stat when it comes to people being knocked out of their sneakers.

And they say, generally, if a person's been knocked out of one sneaker, that will have a chance to live.

If they've been knocked out of two sneakers.
