Good morning in the news this morning. Five people were wounded, none critically, in a shooting outside of a residence hall at Morgan State University in Baltimore on Tuesday, according to authorities who urged students to take shelter on the campus of the historically black college. The Baltimore Police Department initially said officers were on the scene for an active shooter situation at 930. Police kept the campus on lockdown for hours and provided little information about

their investigation.

The gunfire shattered windows at a residence building that's on the same block as the

city police station.

Police Commissioner Richard Worley said the five victims, four males and one female

are between the ages of 18 and 22. Their injuries are non-life

threatening, he told reporters as of a late news conference. Four of the victims are students

at the university. No arrests were announced and police did not release information about the

suspect or suspects. The shooting happened in the middle of a week of activities ahead of the

school's homecoming game on Saturday.

Morgan State University President David Wilson has canceled classes for Wednesday.

The university has an enrollment of about 9,000 students.

Philadelphia journalist and advocate Josh Kruger was shot and killed at his home early Monday morning, according to police.

No weapons were recovered and there has been no arrest,

a statement from police says.

39-year-old Kruger was shot seven times in the chest and abdomen at his point breeze home at about 128 in the morning. Police said he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Most recently, Kruger worked as a journalist covering issues like LGBT rights, homelessness,

HIV and addiction

in publications like the Philadelphia Citizen and the Philadelphia Inquirer.
