And now, Preston and Steve's news update with Kathy Romano.

0:13.3

Today is Tuesday, September 27th. Good morning, Kathy.

0:17.4

Good morning. In the news this morning, on Monday, the Biden administration announced plans to go after airlines and travel websites if they try to slip in fees after you've picked your flight or even after you've booked your ticket. The proposed rule is part of Biden's overall competition efforts and now will undergo a 60-day review and public comment period before it can be enacted.

The overall effort, part of the Transportation Secretary's recent promise to make flying less

painful, comes as other key issues such as constant flight cancellations and an ongoing pilot

shortage allude quick fixes. You should know the full cost of your ticket, right, when

that take off or land in the United States. Monday's move is the latest from the Biden administration

a new airline customer service dashboard as well as dedicating $1 billion to upgrade America's

1:26.1

airport terminals. Nonetheless, the more deeply rooted problems such as a shortage of pilots and the related wave of cancellations earlier this summer haven't proven as open to administration solutions.

1:35.8

The Transportation Department is in the midst of a 90-day review process for another rule around the issue of getting refunds in the event of flight cancellations.

1:44.0

The administration is also pursuing enforcement actions against 10 airlines for extreme delays in providing refunds.

1:50.4

Are there any plans to let someone with just a regular driver's license pilot a commercial liner because that might alleviate.

1:57.8

There was to allow pilots with lesser times. Yes, I saw that. Yeah. And they were saying

2:03.3

I think the only exception is if they flew in the military, they can become an airline pilot at those hours.

2:10.5

They were trying to drop that for everybody. But I don't think it passed. That's the biggest issue,
