Here we are Friday, August 17th. Good morning, Kathy. Good morning in the news this morning. A Philadelphia police officer was injured during a violent struggle with a suspected thief. It happened about 115 in the morning at the right aid on the 2100 block of North Broad Street. Authorities say a security guard approached a man accused of stealing items from the store. The man pulled out a knife on the security guard the guard backed off and that's when the man fled about 45 minutes later a philadelphia police officer spotted a man fitting the suspect's description at 12th and huntington streets the officer went to stop him and the suspect ran again the officer eventually caught up with him on the 2,500 block of 12th Street and the scuffle ensued between the two. The suspect managed to slip away again,

but the officer and others managed to catch up with him in a vacant lot following another struggle.

A whale flipped a 20-foot boat in the waters off of the Jersey shore.

New Jersey State Police released a picture of the capsized boat.

Authorities say two people were fishing in the boat in Long Branch on Thursday.

The fishermen were about 50 yards off the beach when the mammal flipped the boat. They say the whale surfaced beneath the vessel causing it to flip. Both people went overboard, but no one was hurt. They said the whale then just swam away. Other boaters in the area came over to help the men. State police joked on their Facebook page that charges against the whale are pending.
