Good morning in the news this morning.

A 51-year-old woman was found shot to death on her front porch

of a family member's West Philadelphia home. The shooting happened shortly after 3 a.m. Thursday

on the 1,300 block of North 59th Street. Police responding to reports of gunshots found the

woman on the porch suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. They say that she was shot at point-blank range

in the head. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities say the woman was either just arriving or leaving her family members home. They

believe that she was the intended target. Additional family members arrived at the scene as police

continued their investigation. Investigators are hoping to talk to neighbors who may have seen

or heard something that could help help lead them to the killer.

Philadelphia police are also investigating the shooting death of a local star athlete who was supposed to report to Penn State this week on track and field scholarship.

18-year-old Christian Marsh was shot around 9.40 p.m. Monday outside of his home in the

1800 block of East Pestoria Street in West Oak Lane.

The teen was taken to Albert Einstein Hospital where he remained in critical condition until

Tuesday when he passed away.

He was beloved in the track and field community, considered one of the fastest sprinters in the

state and had earned a partial scholarship to Penn State University.

Marsh recently graduated from a Philadelphia charter school where in addition to the track

team, he excelled as a member of the football team.
