news this morning, the Philadelphia Health Department issued a heat health emergency due to the extreme temperatures this week. The heat health emergency goes into effect at 12 p.m. today, Thursday, and is scheduled to end at 8 p.m. A declaration of a heat health emergency activates the city's emergency health programs, which include the Philadelphia Corporation for Aging Heat Line, cooling centers, home visits by special

field teams, and enhanced daytime outreach for people experiencing homelessness.

Wednesday's high of 98 degrees marked, sorry, of 96 degrees, marked the city's third heat wave

of the year. Today is going to be brutally hot as well at 98 degrees. Now, they're saying due points are

expected to be into the low 70s, making for that thick air, that's hard to breathe, especially if you're doing something strenuous. I find that it actually, even if you're in a building or at home, it seems to permeate. I know. Or maybe it's just psychosomatic, but it just feels that way. It will be in the 90s as early as 9 a.m. and then touch

the triple digits by lunchtime. We will see the feels like temperatures peak near 105 degrees in some

spots during the heat of the afternoon. Medical professionals are warning that anyone could get

heat stroke when it's this hot outside. The symptoms to look for are hot, dry, damps, or red

skin, fast, strong pulses, headaches, dizziness, nausea, confusion, losing consciousness, or even

passing out. Did they mention whether or not you should have a fire pit going tonight?

moisture. The Office of a homeless services also declared a code red that began Tuesday,

July 19th, and that will take proactive measures to protect Philadelphians who are experiencing

homelessness. You are encouraged to call the outreach team if you see someone on the street who need

shelter or other homeless services. Police in Upper McCunge Township shot a snake that wrapped

himself around a man's neck. Officers rushed to the man's home. That's a trick shot.
