Good morning in the news this morning. A State Department official confirms the death of another American tourist in the Dominican Republic last week, the eighth to die while on vacation

in that country since last year. 55-year-old Joseph Allen of Aventol, New Jersey, was found dead

in his hotel room at Tara Linda in Sousa on the morning of June 13th. His sister confirmed to ABC. Jamie Reed said that her brother was

vacationing with friends to celebrate a friend's birthday. Friends told Reed that Alan complained

of being hot at the pool. He said that he was going back to the room to take a shower. When his

friends came back, he said that he wasn't feeling 100% again and said that he was going to lie down

for the night. The next morning, his friend said he hadn't heard from Joe before breakfast, so he knocked on his door and there was no response. That's when the friend said he called down to the hotel front desk for a wellness check. They found him on the floor. Reed said he had been there for a while. Rigamortis had set in and he was cold. She describes her brother as for the most part healthy with no pertinent health issues.

Alan was a frequent tourist to the area visiting multiple times a year.

His sister says that she thought nothing about the trip despite the recent reports of death.

There was a story about people down to see a Jimmy Buffett concert and they were all all staying at this resort, and about 30 of them got sick.

And they all had gone to the swim-up bar in a particular pool.

It seems to be coming from the bar, right?

The mini bar, the swim-up bar?

And to your point, Preston, about, you know, like the sort of the bootleg stuff, not just stuff not just low low no home made yeah booze

yeah cheap cheap ultra cheap stuff might be it could be it what's going on i mean this is you know

like a resort trying to cut corners and save a lot of money sure sure and buy it super duper cheap but

if this guy could have had a stuff incorrectly, it can be poison.

But this guy could have had a heart attack. Absolutely. Yeah, we don't know. And just because of everything that's been going. Well, you could say that, or that there's been eight deaths and then 30 other tourists of the same spot that are getting sick. It's certainly, and obviously all eyes are on it right now. Of course. Yeah. So it's under intense scrutiny. So, you know, it's obviously something we assume will eventually be figured out.
