In the news this morning, a massive fire swept across the top of Paris's soaring Notre Dame Cathedral as it was undergoing renovations Monday, collapsing its fire and threatening one of the world's greatest architectural treasures as tourists and residents looked on aghast from the streets below. The French president treated the fire as a national emergency rushing to the seam and canceling a previously scheduled televised address, he pledged to

rebuild a cathedral that he called part of us and appealed for national and international help to do

so. The 12th century church is home to relic, stained glass, and other incalculable works of art

and is a leading global tourist attraction immortalized by Victor Hugo's 1831 novel, The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

You guys have been there.

I have not been there, but they were saying that they called the inside of the church, the actual inside of the structure, the forest, because the wood is, there's hundreds of trees were used for the making of the force.

And that wood is apparently like, was 800 years old plus.

Yeah, 850 years.

Right.

And so it was obviously highly combustible.

And that's why it went up so quick.

My sister called me yesterday.

She was pretty torn up about it.

We were there together.

It didn't affect me like it did her, but that gave me the indication that a lot of people were very, very emotional-dustated place. Yeah, I'm lucky enough to have been there a few times. And one thing that you may or may not know is that when you go there, often there are services being conducted. So I've walked in and it's a, as you would expect, a really reverential place. And it's a really emotional place. There was services on Sunday, and this happened yesterday, day after that. And this is Easter Sunday coming up, which is a guy. Oh, man. Yeah. The Paris Prosecutor's Office said that it was treating the fire as an accident ruling out arson and possible terror-related

motives at least for now. French media quoted the Paris Fire Brigade is saying that the fire was

potentially linked to a $6.8 million renovation project on the church's spire and its 500 tons of wood
