And now, Preston and Steve's news update with Kathy Romano.

0:13.5

Monday, March 27th. Good morning, Kathy.

0:16.5

Good morning in the news this morning.

0:17.9

The Philadelphia Water Department says it is confident that tap water is safe to drink through Monday night after a chemical spill into the Delaware River.

0:25.2

Officials made the announcement at 3.30 Sunday based on updated hydraulic modeling and the latest sampling results and data from the Baxter Drinking Water Treatment Plan.

Earlier in the day, Philadelphia residents were recommended to buy bottled water as a precaution, but officials want to stress that the water remains safe to drink at this time. I got, so, an alert that I've never gotten before, which is a public alert, like it was a different, the graphic was different. It popped up on my phone. It was a higher pitch sound. And I'm like, what the hell is that? And I couldn't retrieve it.

0:54.4

It kind of came and went. And then I followed up on it. And that's when I found out about this. But I thought, oh, is this an amber alert? Right. But it was not. By the way, I don't like the fact that you can't retrieve those things. I've had that happened before. Didn't you be able to? I missed it. Right. And that was clearly important. and I don't know how to go back and find that.

1:13.1

Yeah, yeah.

1:14.2

But this whole thing is weird. Weird. Yeah. So the Philadelphia Water Department is now confident tap water from the Baxter drinking water treatment plant will remain safe to drink and use at least through 1159 PM Monday, March 27th, 2023. A minute later, it will not be good. I know. I'm like, I don't know if I trust that.

1:30.8

Stop drinking that. 30 seconds left. There's no need to buy bottled water at this time. Customers can fill bottles or pitchers with tap water with no risk at this time.

1:41.1

This updated guidance is based on the time it will take river water that entered

the Baxter intake's early Sunday morning to move through the treatment and water remains

before, and the water remains before reaching customers. Officials say the water that is currently

available to customers was treated before the spill reached Philadelphia and remains safe to drink

and use for bathing, cooking, and washing. However, why did they initially say, stop? Oh, my God. Go get bottled water. They did it out of precaution. I was reading this morning that they said they didn't know. They didn't have a chance to test it yet. So it's like out of precaution, everybody stop right now. And then they tested and they're like, okay, it's clear.

2:17.6

You're good for now. But hang on. And so I know the timeline seems silly, but they have to put a number somewhere. Switch to alcohol right now. Yes, switch to boost. But Steve, this is the time. You and I, we should start running water across state lines. Absolutely. We got it, man. I'm holding it. Yeah.

2:35.8

We'll be like a Duke's a hazard.

2:51.2

Yeah. Yeah. Totally. We're running it. Prest in with trucks your father owned. I heard on Channel 6 this morning, I don't know who the reporter was, but they're like, well, they're trying to convince Philadelphia residents, it's okay now. You know, everyone's like, yeah, I'm going to stick to the bottled water.

2:56.9

Yeah, you know, I mean, just to be safe, maybe. Yeah, yeah. Portions of Northwest,

3:01.6

West and Southwest Philadelphia do not appear to be impacted. Preston, we're bigger than USD.

Bugs County health officials said Sunday that a leak late Friday evening at a chemical facility in Bristol Township was caused by a pipe rupture and spilled about 8100 to 12,000 gallons of water-based
