It is March 7th, a Tuesday. Good morning, Kathy.

Good morning. In the news this morning, a man was killed and a woman was injured after they were shot by police in Delaware on Monday night. It happened at 740 outside of the 7-11 on the 200 block of Maryland Avenue in Richardson Park. Police say one Newcastle County police officer opened fired in the parking lot hitting a man and a woman believed to be in their 20s. The unidentified man was taken to Christiana Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Police say the woman was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. No officers were injured in the

incident. According to investigators, officers were in the area conducting a drug investigation

when the incident occurred. When police vehicles arrived on the scene, they blocked the suspect's

Hyundai in the parking lot. As the silver car took off, it hit

the open passenger door of the officer's vehicle. That same officer fired at the Hyundai. The officer

involved in the shooting has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call the criminal investigations unit.

A staff member at a school in Connecticut was arrested after police say a fifth grade

student lost consciousness when she demonstrated a chokehold maneuver.

50-year-old Stephanie Santa Brea was working as a math coach at Brookside Elementary School

back in February when officials say she performed the martial arts move on three students.
