Good morning in the news this morning. The region prepared last night for round two of this winter weather blast that brought some snow to the area early this morning and will bring sleet and rain and freezing temperatures later today. New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy declared a state of emergency that began at midnight. Murphy said Monday the northwest part of the state was bracing for up to eight inches of snow. The northern and central parts of the state are expected to get snow as well as a wintry mix, while southern New Jersey is likely to see sleet turning into rain. Morning snow and freezing rain will give way to rain from south to north during the morning and afternoon. They're saying the morning commute is probably going to be worse than later this afternoon. Because it's more a wintry mix, right? Right. But we could see some of that freeze a little bit later. In northern areas, icing could linger into the evening. Temperatures will gradually climb, ending up at about 38 in Philadelphia around dinner time, and then holding closer to the freezing mark as the night goes on. And then also up in the Lehigh Valley, they're going to be a little bit colder there.

A president and I are watching some dramatic footage this morning of a windshield being scraped.

And I remember as a kid, like my dad having to go outside and shovel a walkway down the driveway so we could either get in the car or we could walk to the bus stop. Like, I'm like, there's nothing out there. You can't help in sound in my day. I know. You know, but it's all part of the deal. Yeah, over the years, there have been accidents and things like that and horrible things that have happened when they've gone maybe we

So winter weather advisory is in effect until as late as 6 o'clock for nearly the entire area away from the immediate coast. solo points south, including Philadelphia, could be released from this sooner as conditions improve.

And a winter storm warning is in effect north of the Pennsylvania Turnpike until 7 p.m. Tuesday,

as snow and an icy mix will linger a little bit longer there.

A high school school girls basketball team was caught on camera using racial slurs on their team bus.

Some of its star players and the coach are suspended.

Pope John Paul II high school started a new week after a weekend of controversy swirling around.

A video posted on social media by a member of its girls varsity basketball team that included racially offensive lyrics from a popular rap song.

The Archdiocese of Philadelphia found it violated its policy of acceptable use of technology

and determined that each player in the video on the team bus and their head coach serve a one-game

suspension. They all missed Saturday's playoff semifinals. Marlene Wood says that she's not surprised
