Good morning in the news this morning. Lower Marion native of the NBA icon Joe Kobe Bryant and his daughter were among those killed after a helicopter crash near Los Angeles.

The crash happened near Calabasas, California about 30 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles on Sunday.

L.A. County Sheriff's Department confirmed nine people were on board the helicopter, no victims survived.

Authorities have not identified the victims, but ABC News sources confirmed that

Bryant and his daughter, Gianna, were among those killed.

Orange Coast College head baseball coach, John Altebelli, was also in the crash and died.

His wife, Carrie and daughter Alyssa were also on board.

Alyssa was a teammate of Giannas.

Costa Mesa Mayor Katrina Foley tweeted that the dead also included Christina Mouser,

a girls basketball coach at a nearby private elementary school.

The federal aviation admission said that the helicopter says that it was a S-S-76

and that it was, they didn't know the cause of the crash. Bryant lived south of Los Angeles

in coastal Orange County for much of his adult life and he often used helicopters to save time

and avoid Southern California's notorious traffic. Even as a player, he often traveled to practices

in games by helicopter and he kept up practice after retirement as he attended to his business ventures.

Now, the helicopter carrying him and eight others crashed into the rugged hillside outside of Los Angeles,

was flying in foggy conditions, considered dangerous enough that local police agencies grounded their choppers.

The helicopter plunged into a steep hillside at about 9.45 Sunday,

with the impact that scattered debris all over the area, the sides of a football field and killed everyone on board. The accident unleashed an outpouring of grief from admirers around the world who mourned the sudden loss of the all-time basketball grade and spent that had spent his 20-year career with the Los Angeles Lakers.
