Philadelphia Police Department's Internal Affairs Bureau is probing whether a detective

played any role in Wednesday's riot on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. A detective reportedly

attended the rally in support of President Donald Trump that preceded the insurrection Wednesday.

A mob of pro-Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol, vandalizing, and assaulting officers.

Five people died, including a Capitol Police officer.

Philadelphia police released a statement on the investigation saying we are aware of social media

posts that allege that a Philadelphia Police Department detective may have been in attendance

at the events on Washington, D.C. on January 6th, that investigation is open to determine if any

Philadelphia Police Department policies were violated by the detective

and if they participated in any illegal activities while in attendance.

The detective's assignment has been changed pending the outcome of the investigation.

Authorities are working to determine if any other police department personnel was in attendance

during the rally across the country.

Police and fire departments are opening probes into officers who attended the rally.

In Seattle, Western Pennsylvania and Texas, officers are under investigation determined if they took part in the violence.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says that the House will proceed with legislation to impeach President Donald Trump as she pushes the Vice President and the Cabinet to invoke constitutional authority to force him out,

warning that Trump is a threat to democracy after the deadly assault on the Capitol.
