Good morning in the news this morning.

Philadelphia restaurants that want to operate with streeteries

must be fully licensed as of today. According to the city, all unlicensed streetery setups must be

removed by January 9th. Restaurants say the application process is lengthy and vague, so operators

are struggling with paperwork to submit for approval. Ben Felicia, the senior director of operations for the Pennsylvania Restaurant and Lodging

Association, says that they are seeing three different rules in all of the documents.

Right now, there's a guidance page, there's the law, and there's regulations.

He says the rules are different in all three of the documents.

The city says fewer streetries are operating since the emergency outdoor dining program

expired at the end of

2022. Some restaurants say they invested tens of thousands of dollars in expanding their operations safely.

So they're saying as of today we'll see who has this permit and they'll be able to stay out there and

who starts cleaning up. You know, it'll always be sort of something that you'll remember from this time

period is like some of these elaborate things that were set up.

And you can see they weren't, I mean, they invested a lot of them. A lot of money. Yeah. I know. And some of them are, I mean, some of them are great. Like, I prefer sitting up. I mean, yeah. It's a little cold now and I know some are still heated. Sure. Especially during the nicer weather months.

It's so nice to sit outside.
