We'll start it off, as always, with the transactions, injuries, news and notes from around

the league, kicking things off with the bad news as shortstop Carlos Correa was placed on the

10-day IL with a torn ankle tendon. Correa will undergo surgery on that ankle and will miss the

remainder of the season.

It's a big blow to the Astros who have dealt with so many injuries this year.

But Carlos Correa out for the rest of the season after undergoing ankle surgery.

Shea Whitcomb was recalled to the minors in a corresponding move.

But Braden Shoemaker and Nick Allen will form a platoon at shortstop for the Astros until Jeremy Pena returns from the injured list.

Second baseman, Glaber Torres, was placed on the 10-day IL with an oblique strain.

He tried to work through the injury, so the move is retroactive, but we should still expect Torres to miss more than the minimum time.

Just given the nature of the injury, oblique strains are really difficult for baseball players to return quickly from

because of how rotational baseball is as a sport.

So that's Glaber Torres to the IL.

Chase Young was recalled for the minors in a corresponding move,

and he'll split time at DH with Jemai Jones,

while Zach McKinthry splits time at second base withemai Jones, while Zach McKintry splits time

at second base with Hal Uli, and then shifts to third base versus left-handed pitchers.

Closing pitcher Emilio Pagan was placed on the 15-day aisle with a grade two hamstring strain.

Pagan will miss four to eight weeks to big blow after he had a big fall to the ground after straining that hamstring.

It looked really significant, and he'll miss one to two months.

So with Pagan out of the closer roll, Tony Santion should get the first shot to close,
