Let's dive into everything baseball related from Sunday, May 3rd.

We'll start it off, as always, with the transactions, injuries, news and notes from around the league, kicking things off with the bad news.

The starting pitcher Hermann Marquez was placed on the 15-day aisle with forearm nerve in irritation.

Marquez's timeline for return is unclear, but for the time being, starting pitcher Griffin Canning has replaced him in the rotation.

He was activated from the 15-D-I-L after missing quite some time with a torn Achilles tendon.

Canning started versus the White Sox in this return and was pretty incredible.

Five innings, three hits, one-er-run.

He walked three while striking out seven inducing

16 whiffs with 37 percent CSW across 73 pitches very impressive from griffin canning as he

earned the king cole in his return to the majors leading baseball with his 37 percent csw canning's

four seamer was much improved at 94 to 95 miles per hour with 17 inches of IVB as it returned

five whiffs and 33% CSW while his changeup had much better movement and induced six whiffs and his

slider was a put away machine with five whiffs and 47% CSW.

This was hardly believable though though, as those three offerings returned

just 54% strikes and had super inconsistent movement profiles, especially on the slider,

which was all over the place. Also, the 47% put away rate is unsustainable, meaning we won't

see as many strikeouts from Canning in the future.

It's not the worst play with the lowly Cardinals next, but this may have been the illusion
