Let's dive into everything baseball related from Tuesday, April 21st.

We'll start it off as always with the transactions, injuries, news and notes from around the league,

kicking things off with the bad news as outfielder Taylor Trammell was placed on the 10-day

IL with a groin strain.

Trammell had been filling in in center field for the Astros with Jake Myers on the IL.

And it looks like Bryce Matthews is expected to step

up to fill in for Trammell. But Matthews could be on the short side of a platoon with Daniel

Johnson, who had his contract selected from the miners. Next, we have starting pitcher Sunny Gray,

who was officially placed on the 15-day IL with a hamstring strain relief pitcher Tyler

Samaniego is expected to be recalled from the minors in a corresponding move, and he was.

But now our minds look forward to who's going to replace gray in the rotation.

Peyton Tolly is probably the top candidate he could be promoted later this week to replace

gray in the rotation.

It would likely start against Baltimore this weekend, but it sounds like Eduardo Rivera is going

to get the first shot and is expected to have his contract selected from the miners today.

Rivera is the Red Sox number 26 prospect, according to MLB pipeline and has pitched to a 0.90 ERA with a 33% strikeout

minus walk rate in two starts at AA. But Rivera was much less spectacular last year as evidenced by

his low prospect ranking. It's unclear how he's going to be used, if he's going to replace gray in

the rotation, or if he's just going to pitch out of the bullpen. But right now, he's going to get
