Hello and welcome to the Bridge Town Daily for January 8th. My name is Matthew Zigginess.

And today is a special day because I have my good friends, John Newfeld. Yes, and what

you're thinking is that the John Newfeld from Starfield? Yes, it is. My good friend here

joining me in the studio. Thanks for being here, John. Glad to be here. Good to have you.

Thanks for having me. And my other friend, Ryan Post, worship pastor at West Side. Thank

you for being here, Ryan. Yeah, glad to be here, man. These are some of my favorite dudes

to write songs with. And we had a song we wanted to share with you that about a month ago,

we sort of pieced together and we've been singing with our communities. Even though you've

put away your Christmas decorations, you've thrown away your tree, it is a Christmas song.

But I think the reality and the truth of what is sung and talked about is bigger than

just the Christmas season. So we just wanted to share it with you guys just a couple behind

the scenes things, talk about a song for a little bit, and then sing it over you guys.

It started about a month ago. I shot a text out to my friends and said, hey, I have an

idea. Just, and for any of you songwriters out there, you know, as you're writing a song,

if you have a melody or something like that, you kind of just fill it with mumbo jumbo

or words. And the first verse kind of was basically a king was born to us today. I like

the shines in darkness. Shepherds come and bring him gifts angels vow before him. And

it stayed that way for a while. And luckily, it was the beauty of co-writing is that you

catch errors. One of the errors was that shepherds, shepherds did not bring him gifts.

They did. They surely did not. And we all had to Google it and like look up at different

translations of the Bible and realized indeed, shepherds did not.

I checked every gospel, no shepherds. So we changed it to wise men. Google did change
