him continually dwell. Today we honor saints Marsalinas, Peter, and Erasmus, three early

Christian martyrs, each with his own story,

all united by their unshakable faith. So let's start with Marcellinus and Peter. Two Roman Christians

martyred in the early 4th century during the persecution of Diocletian. Marcellinus was a priest, Peter,

an exorcist. Both were imprisoned for their faith and continued

to minister even behind bars. So powerful was their witness that the jailer, with his wife,

and their entire family converted to Christianity. To erase any public veneration, their execution

was carried out in secret, deep in a forest.

But the martyrdom couldn't be hidden for long. A devout Christian woman named Lucilla,

located and reverently buried their bodies. Years later, their story was so well known that even

Pope Damasus I composed a poem in their honor, saying he'd heard the tale from

the very executioner who'd come to faith through their courage.
