In this episode, the meditation, 40 steps to Easter.

Today's news from the church, an explosive appointment in the Vatican, a preview of the sermon, the abasement

of our Lord, and today's thought from Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre. But first the collect of today's

Mass, in thy mercy, O Lord, may this hollowing fast enlighten the hearts of thy faithful people,

and since you have given them the desire to serve thee, lend a gracious ear to their prayers.

Now they're stood by the cross of Jesus, his mother, and his mother's sister Mary, the wife of Cleophos, and Mary Magdalene.

When Jesus therefore saw his mother and the disciple standing by whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, woman, behold thy son,

then saith he to the disciple, behold thy mother, and from that hour that disciple took her unto his own.

There were three women who stood near the cross of our Lord. Mary Magdalene is the representative

of the penitent sinner, or of one who is making a

first attempt to advance in the way of perfection. Mary, the wife of Cleophos, is the representative

of those who have already made some advance towards perfection. And Mary, the Virgin Mother of Christ,

is the representative of those who are perfect.

Today's meditation, 40 steps to Easter.

Jesus is nailed to the cross.

Practice. Keep your hands and feet still today, whether standing or sitting,

and contemplate the nails received by Jesus.

Prayer, O Jesus, hide me within thy wounds. By thy sacred wounds,
