Welcome to another weekend episode of the Daily Dad podcast. I am looking out over a house that is completely trashed because it's been a bit crazy over here. I talked about this, I think, in a recent episode. But there was this sort of freak winter storm that came out over Texas.

Schools were shut down.

They told everyone not to drive.

So we sort of hunkered down and waited it out.

Obviously, I would have preferred my kids be in school and learning.

I would have preferred to be in the office catching up on stuff.

I would have preferred to be doing my normal routine, but that's not how it goes.

And I have a couple thoughts that I wanted to share.

So the first is one of the things that I took from the pandemic that sort of changed,

this is the stoic idea of justice and being community-minded,

which is because of what I do for a living,

because of what my wife does for a living, because of the kinds of schools that our kids go to, and because of where we are financially and at this place in our lives, we have a lot of flexibility.

We have a ton of flexibility.

So when something like a pandemic happens and they're like, it would be better for everyone if you stayed inside and didn't do X, Y, or Z.

We're like, sure, right?

We're not essential workers in any way.

We can wait for stuff.

We have stuff where we live out in the country.
