The second section of Psalms, known as the Exodus Psalms, remind us that the God who redeemed us is still with us.

that has struck me as I've meditated through these Psalms is how many of these Psalms simply

repeat the same refrain, the same emphasis over and over and over again. Don't let yourself get

bored with that. No, there's a reason for it because every day we need

certain reminders. Every day, it really is going back to the same truth and the same disciplines

over and over again. Psalm 56 is set, it appeared in David's life, when the Philistines

took him in Gath. You can read all about it in 1st Samuel chapter number 21.

It was a very difficult season in David's life.

And so in that context, he writes these words,
